How Ya Feelin’ Today?

When I started this vegetarian thing I thought I’d do it for a month for Kerrie, but there was no way I was going to do this forever. I mean…BACON, CHICKEN, HAM and TURKEY Paninis!  Come on, am I really supposed to give up those things for the rest of my life? But today when my son-in-law asked me how I felt I realized something. I feel good. Really good. Sure, I still have a whole lot of weight to lose, but I actually feel good. I sort of accepted the idea that I was going to live in pain for the rest of my life. Some part of my body has hurt for the past, probably 1 to 2 years. I’ve gone to doctors to see if they could help. I found out the varicose vein I knew I had really needed to be taken care of. I had it zapped. (That’s what they do now, they used to rip them right of you, now they stick a wire into your leg, heat up the wire and kill the vein and it just sort of dissolves, anyway, I had that done.) But the leg kept hurting. All the doctors said the other pains I had were probably stress related. That’s doctor speak for: “I really don’t know what’s wrong with you.” I chalked it up to age. Now I know it’s only been a week, but if a week of this vegetarian thing can make me feel this good, I don’t know that I want to go back. I have a big salad bowl I made a long time ago. On the rim of the bowl I painted: Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. I think I’ll make another one only this one will say: No meat tastes as good as feeling good feels.
